Crimson & Black Unveils “Heritage Uniform Concept“

Our friend Ben Matukewicz is a fan who has been working on compiling a UNO Hockey jersey database the past few years featuring all the uniform variations the team has worn throughout the program’s history.

From time to time he also shares uniform concepts on Facebook and Twitter under the project’s moniker “Crimson & Black.” Matukewicz’s latest concept stems from one of the university’s early club team uniforms.

Last year I wrote an article about UNO’s club program during the 1970s (a period that almost saw the team move up to the varsity level). I mentioned in the blog post that the university played club hockey as early as the 1940s (according to the Omaha World-Herald archives).

Matukewicz’s “Heritage Uniform Concept” graphic above includes a picture of an early University of Omaha club team (on the left side — believed to be from 1947).

His overall concept is very cool — love that retro vibe!

I profiled Matukewicz and his creative pursuits on my personal blog in 2018. He is the co-founder of Aksarben Creative, and does some terrific graphic design work.

Be sure to follow Crimson & Black on Facebook and Twitter
