UNO dropped the price on basketball season tickets this year. My renewal shows upper level seats at $99 for the year. They raised prices to $150 per seat last year. $99 drops the price back down to the Ralston Arena days. This makes sense. It wasn't wise to raise the price in the first place.
That wasn't smart thinking if that's what they thought. They couldn't draw more than 1,500 a game at Baxter...in a 4k arena. So, you move to an arena where supply is almost double...and raise the prices significantly. That's not a great recipe.
UNO basketball has alot of potential as part of the local sports scene. Still, it needs to be an affordable option. I know a few people that are considering jumping in for season tickets now that they are back at $99 a seat. $150 was too much for them.
I feel like this could have been communicated to ticket holders.
It's kind of that D-II mentality within the athletic department that we always talk about.
Nothing makes you feel valued as a season ticket holder like receiving a plain envelope with a pile of tickets in it and nothing else.
I'd guess by lowering the cost on basketball tickets to $99 along with the budget cuts, they've trimmed all of the profits from it and probably can't afford to do anything special for ticket holders anymore.
