Kovy is a great player...I will just come out and say that straight up. We all know that he will not be in New Jersey for 17 years also. This is a GREAT pick up for the Devils if a few other things fall into place. If they can keep Parise and if this won't hurt their ability to get a goaltender when Brodeur is retired. If Parise is not hurt from this deal and if they can still keep their tradition of stellar goaltending then this was a GREAT move.

I don't think he'll play 17 years, but I don't see why he wouldn't be there for the length of the contract. Maybe they buy him out or just continue to pay him whether he's playing or not.

Contract length is merely a way to pay a lot of money and stay under the CAP.
