It'd be cool if he somehow made it to UNO.

I would think that with Dean Blais being the coach here, anything is possible.

Good article twiztid. Thanks for posting. It could be interesting to see if his draft number changes after being told to stay in juniors another year, although I wouldn't think his ratings would change much. Seems to have a lot of similarities to Blake Wheeler...big kid, grew up in Minnesota and dreams of playing there and could only be there a year.

From College Hockey News Q & A with Don Lucia
CHN: A recent article mentioned (17-year old blue chipper) Seth Ambroz as going back to junior, and other players switched commitments.
Lucia: There are reasons for different things, and no one asks me. That's what's bothersome. Ambroz couldn't get all of his high school classwork completed in time. He had no option but to return to junior for another season. ... But anyone can say anything, and then it gets repeated.

Wow, that was nice of Lucia to sell out Seth and tell everyone by way of media interview that he had academic issues... just to clear his own name. That seems kind of Bush league. Lucia could have simply said that it was a personal issue and choice that Seth had to make as he was not quite ready for the jump to college just yet. He didn't need to mention the kids academics when he is only 17 at this point anyway. Not a huge deal I guess.

You sure this isn't a recruiting violation talking about players in any context before the year they are scheduled to come to a school? Once a NLI is signed it is only binding for that year, to go back to that school a new one would need to be signed for a later year.
Of course hockey rules are completely different than Football and Basketball. |

I wonder how long it will take for UNO to convince Seth that his best option is staying in Omaha?

I think if it were going to happen, it would have already happened. But you never know...

Maybe it's not his best option. Maybe it's not an option, although I'm sure Blais would make it an option for him.

I have to say that if he were to come to UNO... it would certainly not hurt the program. Seth may be one of those kids that only plays a year or two in college though before getting signed and it is never that much fun to see a difference maker leave early. He will most likely be a 1st or 2nd round pick in the NHL draft if his development continues well this season... and I am pretty sure he's going to be in position to be one of the most dominant forwards in the USHL this season.
