Rudest fans in the CCHA - how dare you call our goalie a "high school goalie"
I am finally learning how to really hate the weasels and now know what people mean when they say it hurts for us fans to lose to them! |

F. the Weasls. I wasn't able to listen to the game, but I hate them as a team. I also really long for the day when we take them to school. It WILL come.

Doesn't matter about the fans. Doesn't matter about Yost. Doesn't matter about Weasels. Doesn't matter about the announcers.
As West O pointed out, we were outplayed, outsized, outspeeded, outgoalied, etc. What, Jared let in four, Jeremie let in 6?
I would remind long time fans of the cheer that kept the U.S. inspired during the Spanish-American war.
"Remember the Maine!"
We have come back from a serious kicking with our heads up. We did it against Maine. We need to do so tomorrow.

I know that we were completely outplayed, etc.....blah, blah, blah!!
The thing is - it makes us all feel a little better to do a little bashing!!
I am sure that they will come out ready to play from the start of the game tomorrow and prove to the weasels that we are a good hockey team worthy of moving on in the playoffs. |

Great pict Adam. We can't expect to beat anybody playing like we did tonight. We couldn't pass the puck. We couldn't clear the zone. We couldn't stop the puck without giving up rebounds. It was brutal watching the game on the tiny UM feed I couldn't imagine watching it in person.

...Even Aarnio let 1 in...they got to score on all of our goalies. |

When I called for a scoring update from the SCSU/Wisconsin game, I had to ask 3 times if they were serious

| I'm thinking of driving to Winona to see UNO's basketball team tomorrow night. It might be less depressing than listening to the hockey game. |

I don't think Patrick Roy or Dominik Hasek in their prime could have saved UNO tonight. In fact, I think the Weasels could have pulled Sauer at the start, gone 6-on-5 the whole night and won 18-5. UNO's only hope was that Sauer would have switched places with Charles, the WOLV-TV "sideline" reporter. Sauer probably would have been more informative on the webcast, and UNO might have scored enough goals against the reporter to make the game a little more competitive.

I've never heard of such rudeness. That is the worst thing I've ever heard anywhere at anytime. There should be laws. That type of name calling should be left to what a decent percentage of this board has opined about all of our goalies this year. |

| There announcers did about as good of a job as U.N.O. did tonight. Haha those guys cracked me up thru stupidity. Now I know why they let us watch it free. Nobody would pay to watch that horse****. |

| They were also taunting "Ugly Parents" when Dupont took his mask off and taunted Aarnio by saying "Puny Goalie"....classless, as usual. Not to mention they were freaking out and wanting more power plays while they were up 10-1....It's very disrespectful, if you ask me... |

| Well it was still a fun season. A lot of good things happened. The team is still pretty young, and now that they've got a look at Yost, and found out how tough it is to play in a bigtime arena/game, they should be well imporoved next year. It's all a part of learning. |

Yes... Winona is playing Fort Lewis in the 4/5 game tomorrow at 8:30. With a win, they will play Winona St. Sunday night at 7:30. If you have nothing to do, I'd suggesting coming up ;).
If anyone is gonna be up there and wants to meet up or anything... give me a call (402)-616-6281. We're leaving at 5 AM because I want to see all the games tomorrow.

Looking through some old/past posts from the last year and getting caught up on any info I may have missed and I came upon some interesting things.
Has anybody heard anything about Jeremie leaving for any reason?? I guess I just assumed that since he was so young and into his academics that he would stick around the entire 4 years for sure....
Just curious - didn't mean to get off topic |

Well, I'm glad I didn't listen to it, and glad I wasn't there to witness it. Kudos to our fans that made the trip.
For as BAD as this loss is, we weren't going to sweep Michigan, we have to split the first two, and see what happens on Sunday.
That goal is still in tact. We saw how furious Alaska came out with their season on the line, well now ours is on Saturday as well.
While I will go short of expecting a Maine Miracle turnaround, hang with these guys shift by shift, and see what happens.
I'm hoping for a Sunday game, but not expecting it, I do believe tomorrow's game will go into the third period with us having a puncher's chance.
Let's go! |

The score says it!!! UNO did not play their best game. Michigan dominated.!!! Their fans, while classless, are all about their team... and only thier team. Good for them. But the way it sounds is they could keep their language toned down. I'm extremely disappointed in the performance because I know that UNO is capabably of beating any team, anywhere, and at any time. They just need to quit playing soft. Play with some heart and enthusiasm! Quit chillin and skate already!!!!

I'm slowly writing the hockey story for the Gateway (I haven't written for months and since never for sports!)...It's a labor of love...Kind of...It'd be more lovable if we'd have done better. :(

You are kidding right?
You are offended by "Puny Goalie"?
I got a score report at the end of the first period and heard we were losing 3-0. I didnt care to catch up after that point.
Yea, this horrible season (yes, it was a horrible season) is almost over. But the sad part of it is, I dont see us being any better next year. In fact I think we will struggle to make home ice for the first round of the playoffs next year. |

We said this after we embarrassed our self's in the tournament 2 years ago.
Look at the Michigan team we saw last night. They were here in November they weren't this good of a team then. We are the same skill wise team we were in November. We haven't improved at all! Billy Sauer last year was not the goaltender he is this year. His improvement was credited by Red to their new goalie coach. Here is a team that has gone to the tournament what 17 straight years and they are replacing coaches why? Because somebody isn't getting it done any more. Here we are going no where and we don't want to rock the boat. Our goalies have been giving up the week rebound in front of the goal forever no improvement ever year to year.
If we are ever going to compete in the CCHA we need to change something we can't compete on our talent alone we have proved that over the years, We are going to need somebody that can coach (teach, nurture, improve,) the players we have/get here. The amount of improvement from start of year to finish isn't there.

As much as I hate too I agree with Ellisfan.
This Michigan team is loaded with freshmen. We have last years USHL scoring leader, Canadian jr A scoring leader and we are doing what with them? We can't keep saying we don't get quality players! We do not use the talent we get.
I hope we have a better showing tonight however, after last night we are not the team we thought we were
I'm looking forward to the day we have a team that is respected and feared by the rest of the country.
Here's to hoping that somebody that can improve this team has the guts to do it. |

This is an absurd lack of perspective. Bad beat. We've won three games against top-10 opponents this year. We're getting three of the top 25 scorers in the USHL next year, two of the top 25. Like the coach, don't like the coach, but this kind of wild self-pity has truly become boring.

I'm not surprised Michigan put a whuppin on us last night.
They're a very good hockey team right now with lots of weapons. We are a mediocre team at best. Our lack of defensive experience is very evident when you play a powerhouse offense like Michigan has. I had another commitment and had to switch off the radio at 2-0, but wasn't surprised by the final score.
Hopefully we'll be more competitive tonight. Maybe bounce back game two like we did against Maine!! |

Honestly, I didn't notice the fans. When you're up 3-0, 10-1, whatever, you don't need to bother the opposing fans.
Yost is interesting. Our seats were way up at the top of the section (kind of like being in 213 -- well, maybe 215 or 211 ... just off to the side a bit. We had a decent group, including a couple of UNO alumni who live in Chicago but were in town, the "Jontourage" and Kenl (and their adopted/apparently-dropped-on-his-head-as-a-baby) son decked out in Weasel wear.
Michigan simply outplayed us from start to finish. They're big, fast, and talented. Kaufmann let in four, Jeremie let in five, and Aarnio let in one. As one of their fans said as we were leaving the game, "Wow, we could have scored 5-6 more on them." Yep, probably.
Oh well. Another game tonight. We're heading out in a bit to go catch the Red Wings-Predators game. |
