Heading to Miami to help the embattled Enrico Blasi on his staff...

Interesting scenario for UNO (especially as it regards the ‘19, ‘20 and ‘21 recruits)

Any thoughts on replacements?

I’ll mention former Maverick Rob Facca — as I did last spring — because the Chicago Blackhawks scout did a terrific job as an assistant and recruiting coordinator at Northern Michigan and Western Michigan during his stints with those programs.

Sad to see him go. did great work with weninger (imo)

thought he was more of a goaltender coach? don't blame him for taking the opportunity at miami. sounds like a step up.

Blasi has been at miami a long time, and while still young perhaps mannino sees this as a chance for a head coaching gig?

Just a hunch, but UNO may not fill the position given the universities tenuous budget situation..

we could bring back dean blais as long as he doesn't take the minnesota job!

Full cost of attendance scholarships (FCOA) could be another issue impacting assistants/recruiting down the road...

UNO has been vague on the topic. Miami — if I recall correctly — has said they’ll offer them for hockey.

press release on uscho indicated -- This move will allow him and his family to be closer to their parents.

but UNO needs to do something about the total cost of attendance scholarships.. but that's another thread.. perhaps I can work in the dean blais haters.....

Anyone have any thoughts on Bryan Marshall as the next coach? He recently stepped down/replaced as the Lancers president.

Somebody with extensive USHL experience has good recruiting contacts. That's a plus.

However, the Lancers had losing seasons his first two seasons, though that could be the responsibility of his predecessor.

I'd like to see someone with college hockey experience, though.

Mavs loose another prized commitment..

Matej Pekar (Muskegon Lumberjacks) has committed to Miami University for 2018-2019.

For those keeping track at home:

Ethan Johnson of Thief River Falls no longer listed as committed to Omaha. Mavs have already lost three recruits this spring.

Since he committed to Dean Blais, that's not exactly a surprise. I've heard that Gabinet is reconsidering all of the previous offers and commitments.

And by the way... Mannino's been gone for seven weeks now. Even Steve Pederson thinks this is taking a bit too long.

It could be that Gabinet is waiting for someone on the Youngstown or Fargo staffs to free up, much like last year. But the long wait does make you wonder.

If we do hire someone from one of those staffs, it obviously explains the delay. If not, it does make you wonder on the length of time to fill.

Brian Kaufman was named "interim assistant" two weeks ago, so it's likely that Gabinet expected this to take a while to fill. That being said, it had better be because his choice can't start for a while.

Bridget pointed this out a week or so ago. But Tony Boone says a hire is imminent.

The speculation? John Rosso, a scout with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Rosso was an original Maverick from 1997-2001.

we have our new assistant:

former Calgary assistant Paul Jerrard will fill the vacant spot. Jerrard once coached Gabinet in the Dallas farm system.
