Frozen Four sites will be announced April 18. UNL has bid on a Frozen Four at the Centurylink Center.

I'm sure the System has money.... Just not for UNO. Wouldn't the official bid actually come from the city of Omaha and MECA with the University of Nebraska simply serving as the host school.

Minimum hockey capacity to host the Frozen 4 is 18,000. Centurylink Center website states 17,100 hockey capacity. I'm assuming that is fixed seating. Would closing in the bud bar end with temp bleachers get them to 18,000?

Not sure (on the removable seats they setup sometimes on the Bud Bar)...

I doubt they'd quibble too much if the City of Omaha promised to make up the revenue difference on a few hundred seats.

I just remember when we were in STL a decade ago (wow...it's been a decade already), and one of the locals talked about all the incentives he (as a Blues ticket holder) had been given to buy FF tickets (I think they included tickets to a minor league game of some sort...among other things).

I know there are people who go every year, but they don't occupy every seat.

I look at the fact that Omaha built them a $200 million baseball stadium for the College World Series, and figure the NCAA kind of owes the city. And Omaha tends support these events really well (and keeps getting basketball regionals every few years).

I'd be surprised if Omaha doesn't win a bid.

Reportedly, the NCAA is going to stick with NHL arenas: Detroit, Buffalo, Boston and Pittsburgh.

I don't care if Detroit is Hockeytown or Titletown or whatever, it is a landfill with some buildings.

someone posted that the NCAA is wanting a larger chunk of revenue and that tampa did not put in a bid this time around.

overall very disappointing next round of sites.

I can't wait to go there. Looking forward to seeing the new barn and the area it's in will be great for the Frozen Four.
