UNO played a critical series in February during the 2005-06 season. Forward Alex Nikiforuk had a game-winning goal in regulation that helped the Mavs to victory on Feb. 17, 2006 at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The goal is lauded by fans as the highlight of that season, a season that saw UNO make its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance.
